Dick's Review | These recordings have been known as the “State Of The Art” for audience recording equipment and it is only recently that the cassette technology has improved sufficiently to be able to equal and in some cases surpass the quality on these tapes. The shows themselves were very exciting and also marks the last time they played with the middle year’s configuration of Weir, Pig Pen, Lesh, Kreutzman, and Garcia. Keith joins the band sometime in October of 1971. The 8/6/71 show has easily the finest version of Hard To Handle that has ever been done. All songs are performed flawlessly and both the other one jams were fantastic. It might be one of the 1st appearances of Wharf Rat and it is exciting. |
