| Dick's Review | The show is better than usual as regards general enthusiasm. Things really take an upturn with a unique approach to Playin' In The Band which is done with gusto and is filled with energy and is the highlight of the 1st set - although Big Railroad Blues and Cumberland Blues were both hot! Nothing much till The Other One which is long and drawn out with plenty of tasty spacey stuff as was typical of most other ones from this period, this attempt evolves slowly to a real Feedback Smasher which nicely falls into a surprise: Black Peter is stuck within the long closing jam for the 1st time and so far this is where it has finally settled. The resumption of The Other One is really strong and perhaps one of my favorite parts of this show but it only lasts for a few minutes before haphazardly starting Truckin' which is unique for the long instrumental conclusion (not shattering as in post 1977 versions but still very intense) actually it is pretty “Shattering” in it’s conclusion and just might be on my favorite pre-1977 versions. The highlight is the space - freakout, just preceding Black Peter |
