Dick's Review | The quality of this recording is very good (6) at best, with the 2/23/74 show being noticeably better quality (7) and the 2/24/74 show the best of the 3, in terms of quality and performance. The 1st set doesn’t contain very many exciting places. Only Big River had anything a little bit tantalizing and that was only for a brief moment. Playin' In The Band is average, always being entertaining because of the extended improvisational nature of this tune. Truckin' > Nobody's Fault But Mine is really nice, much better than anything previously. The 3rd set starts off surprisingly well, with very exciting versions of Mississippi Half Step and especially Promised Land. Eyes Of The World is even better than the Truckin' Jam and might be the most intense and interesting playing for the whole night. I really like Keith's piano on Sugar Magnolia |
