Dick's Review | Bob (Wagner) said that this was one of his favorites, and I have learned to trust his judgement. They get into a very energetic and unusual style of play before they get into The Wheel. I almost wanted to label it a jam because of how different it seems. But we have come to see that almost anything can qualify as being part of a Playin' In The Band jam. This also has a fine jam with Phil playing with the drummers for a few minutes just before they start The Wheel, after 25 minutes of one of the finest versions of Playin' In The Band. A special treat is a very pretty lengthy (the longest I know of) and unusually fine version of Roll Out The Barrel. Very tasty. Eyes Of The World is very full of energy and enthusiasm. The final jam is also filled with excitement. This is clearly one of the most finest moments (shows) from 1976. Which wasn’t a particularly exciting year, when compared to shows from almost any other year except 1972 and 1973. |
