Dick's ReviewThis is yet another incredible show from the month of October which may turn out to be the hottest single month of any year in Dead history! Only May of this year seems to be in this class. The 1st set is excellent with Sugaree and The Music Never Stopped being the highlights. The 2nd set (scratched out: opens with) is the most unique of all being the longest jam in history (at least modern history) 88+ min - Scarlet Begonias > Fire On The Mountain is really nice and instead of stopping the jam continues with an average Estimated Prophet. They have a period of indecision in the jam section and then things get on a clear track with a drum solo into The Other One which isn't done in any exciting fashion and is short. Good Lovin' is a surprise at this point in the jam in fact the whole jam is totally unique, There is a couple minute splice of a tinny recording of Good Lovin' and then the normal excellent quality recording comes back! The remainder of the jam is OK but nothing really deserving of a Lightning Skull Award. I guess the main reason that I rate this show so highly is the general “up” quality to the whole performance and some versions are great and the jam is so unusual. The transition between Black Peter and Around And Around is one of the highlights!
