Dick's Review | Well it is time to find some shows that should be erased since I need some blank reels. This one was always suspected to be a potential victim. The quality sounds distant and not clear and distinct like I prefer my tapes. I can’t tolerate even checking out the quality of the performance of the 1st set. It is erased. The 2nd set opens with a little better quality but it is probably that I’ve adjusted to it. The vocals are the worst of it. They seem to be in another room from the instrumental sound. Jack Straw seems to go on way longer than usual. Dancin' In The Streets also has some definite excitement about it and has a very tasty segment which should be called a jam section within Dancin' In The Streets. Meandering for a while before dropping into the closing. A full 25-min rendition Samson And Delilah is nothing special. Playin' In The Band is OK but not inspiring and only lasts 10-min before dropping into the drum solo. Not Fade Away makes this whole show happening - it isn’t a killer but the playing is tasty and very interesting, much more so than the current styling of this tune. Even up to a couple of years. Very unique way of dealing with this tune and quite different from what I can remember about the many ways of approaching this tune. |
