Dick's ReviewReinhard (Hohlwein) said that this is the best recording that he has ever made and he couldn’t have done it at a better concert than this. Everyone has said that this show is the finest of the whole California tour and it certainly is one of the finest quality audience tapes I have. ((Only 11/4 - 6/77, 5/8/77, 9/3/77, 6/8 & 9/77, 1/13/78 seem as potent)) <> Garcia’s voice is not as bad as earlier in the tour but still is horrible. The 1st set must rank in the top ten of all-time and the jam from the 2nd set is one of the greatest ever. Garcia has been flirting with the “Close Encounters” theme during this January tour and here he makes it quite clear and specific. The drum entry into The Other One is surely the most exciting ever. Around And Around and U.S. Blues are as good as I’ve ever heard them.

Dick's 2nd ReviewOne should add that this is one hell of a Terrapin Station. There is something extra & specially potent and meaningful in this attempt. Everything is extremely timely and fluid. Fucking Thrilling!! Bertha > Good Lovin' is about as exciting as it ever got. Especially Good Lovin'. The Other One is also outstanding. Very direct and powerful. Then there is a jam section that is tasty before dropping back into the closing of The Other One. Saint Stephen is one of the best ever attempts. Not Fade Away is another exciting point in this great show.
