Dick's Review | Mississippi Half Step starts things off in a mighty exciting fashion, it being close to the energy exhibited in the 5-7-77 version, They screw up Tennessee Jed noticeably but rebound nicely to make it fairly interesting. They Love Each Other is especially pleasing to the ear. Let It Grow is short and direct and very nice. Scarlet Begonias > Fire On The Mountain is good but not exceptional in any way. Terrapin Station is better than usual with Playin' In The Band being average. The highlight is the jam section where they get into a nice space-out. Black Peter is better than usual and Truckin' is also in the same class. We get an unusual ending as they fidgeted around for what to drop into Truckin'. Playin' In The Band was obvious but Lesh gets the inspiration for Good Lovin' which is prompt, tight, and efficient |
