Dick's ReviewThis is one of the finest audience recordings I know of. It was made on a Nagra open reel deck at 7 ½ ips and using a very expensive mike (neiman?) The show itself is spectacular. The 1st set isn’t nearly as incredible as the 2nd set but since I was there and because it isn’t average either I decided to go beyond the requirements to give this show the highest seal of approval: A Lightning Skull Award. I can’t think of anything of interest to say about the opening 2 medleys of the 2nd set which are very tight and filled with excitement. I can’t remember them ever opening up with these two rousing pieces of music. Playin' In The Band and Shakedown Street (good version) are both quite short and to the point. Things start to pick up with a tantalizing and promising percussion jam. Hamza El Din makes a surprise appearance and following this we get a very exciting surprise: A not so usual appearance of Saint Stephen which is done with enthusiasm. The highlight of the show is the Not Fade Away > Goin' Down The Road Feelin' Bad section of the closing jam. Around And Around is also kind of thrilling.
