Dick's ReviewThis is one of my all time highest Dead experiences where I get my first chance to see how everything comes together from backstage. Only New Years Eve 1-1-79 was higher in terms of overall quality and intensity of the performance. Kidd told me about a new development in PA technology where Phil is able to achieve a 20 cycle tone. This bass sound is ever present throughout this show but is most prominent during the closing jam following Eyes Of The World. Anyway, this adds a lot to the general quality and satisfaction of this show. It may not come across on tape but being there had me feel very profoundly affected. This is the most magical show I’ve ever seen. The 1st set closer was really thrilling. Garcia's new tune hit me solid and Passenger was on fire! Suddenly the 2nd set begins with my 3rd favorite tune and we are treated to a thrilling version. Estimated Prophet is where the special magic begins. It started to rain near the end of this tune and the following playing is extra special. It seemed like the show could suddenly be stopped but the band played intensely with no hesitation or apprehension. The transition into Eyes Of The World is really fine and could almost qualify being labeled as a jam. The rain is really coming down during this part. The jam section following Eyes Of The World is the highlight of the show being very similar to the space jam from 8-4-79 - Oakland. The percussion jam is very aggressive and Not Fade Away is a tease. Black Peter and Around And Around are exceptional
