Dick's Review | This is the night that Kidd was raving about. The first set is pretty uneventful but things change radically with the usual opening medley which is very intense (one unusual factor is that the quality of the sound in the 2nd set seems to be noticeably better than the beginning of the show) The closing jam is where the shit comes down! After an average version of He’s Gone they fall into an exciting jam section which eventually explodes into my favorite song. They really do a number on it this time with one exceptionally thrilling intro into the 1st verse of The Other One. (I still don’t feel that it tops the version from 8/13/79 at Denver!) The percussion jam and Not Fade Away are not nearly as intense as The Other One but they are both performed in an above average manner. Black Peter is one of the minor highlights of the jam. | |

Dick's 2nd Review | Franklins Tower is simply awesome and the crowd gets off in thrilling fashion. The jam section before The Other One is really high-energy and exciting. The jam section that follows is a bit short but very intense almost a Brain-Fry before the drummers get a fast paced take off into the percussion jam. Not Fade Away is performed in a much slower tempo that in year’s past and it has a very deliberate quality that give it lots of zing. One of the better 2nd sets ever. |
