Dick's Review | The opener is hot. I can’t recall an Alabama Getaway as exciting as this and Promised Land is just burning with excitement. Fantastic opener and things seem to continue in this very aggressive and intense manner. Even though things seem to slow down a bit after an exciting Minglewood Blues each tune is done well. The Music Never Stopped just seems to be getting off when they surprisingly drop into Sugaree which is very thrilling although not monumental like some versions. Estimated Prophet starts off quite exciting but most of it is spent setting up Eyes Of The World and is fairly uneventful. Eyes Of The World on the other hand is excellent and leads into one of the highlights of this show: The Jam section preceding the percussion jam which is interesting but nothing that exciting. Another secondary highlight is the unique 2nd jam section which eventually seems to have Not Fade Away all set up but delays the opening for a few minutes. The highlight has to be the great but short version of Not Fade Away. Black Peter is also pretty intense. All things considered, I feel this jam is better than both 11/24 and 25/79! |
