Dick's Review | Me And My Uncle has to be one of the best. And Big River isn’t slowing anything down either. Things continue in this same exceptional vein throughout the first set and I’m beginning to wonder if this show just might be as good or better than 3/30/80! Looks Like Rain is especially fine from the closing medley of the 1st set. China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider is as exciting as imaginable and is clearly the hottest thing so far. Estimated Prophet is also very intense and lasts about 12 minutes which is longer than the usual throw-away version of the last 6 months or so where they have cut back on the amount of jamming around this tune. The 1st jam section is fairly exciting but it is haphazard in its entrance to The Other One which does get off to one very exciting start! Just before the 2nd jam section there is some unusual playing featuring just the drummers and Brent for a couple of minutes (Actually that might be what the jam section is all about) The Percussion jam is excellent and one of the highlights of the show and the 3rd jam section does a further fine job in setting up Stella Blue which is performed very tastefully and inspiringly even though it doesn’t develop the ending as much as usual. Around And Around is a very fitting climax to such a great show. |
