Dick's ReviewJack Straw is really hot but Franklin’s Tower doesn’t keep it going except for a couple exciting moments. Cassidy has a nice moment in it but I’ve heard many better versions but Lazy Lightning > Supplication is as exciting as I’ve heard it in quite a while if ever. Feel Like A Stranger > Deal is also very exciting and an appropriate ending to an excellent 1st set. Lost Sailor > Saint Of Circumstance is very good but Terrapin Station suddenly becomes really enormous and intense sounding about 2/3rds the way through (scratched out: and is one of the highs to absorb from this show) Also the quality of the sound in the 2nd set begins sounding very penetrating and decent. Playin' In The Band is also noticeably entertaining and has a nice transition into Uncle John’s Band where the audience catches the hint and you feel that. Garcia realized that there is nothing else possible now! And this version is especially exciting and probably equals a couple of the 12/79 Oakland attempts (scratched out: but doesn’t hold up to Glen Falls, NY 5-8-80.) The percussion jam is one of my favorites lately, mainly because of how aggressive the attack feels. The jam section is short but tastefully flows into Not Fade Away which is really short, hardly enough time to develop things. But then another somewhat rare surprise, Goin' Down The Road Feelin' Bad which is really fast paced and good but not as good as 4/28 and 5/11. Good Lovin' and Alabama Getaway are both very exciting and finish off this excellent, or should I say great show.
