Dick's Review | The show is kind of similar in intensity to 5/29 with nothing special happening relatively speaking. Althea is pretty nice and The Music Never Stopped is quite excellent. It being the clear highlight of a pretty average 1st set. Scarlet Begonias > Fire On The Mountain are good but the really superb playing starts with an intense and captivating extrospective rendition of Playin' In The Band. The following jam section brings things even more enticing with some superb playing in an up tempo fashion. The percussion jam is also quite entertaining. The following jam section is a very nice send-up to Not Fade Away which is short and uneventful. The usual Black Peter follows and then we get a nice surprise. Goin' Down The Road Feelin' Bad which is one of the best and most exciting and extended versions I’ve ever heard. Then as if the crowd hasn’t boogied enough we get one last shot of energy. Good Lovin' to end and excellent 2nd set. |
