Dick's ReviewThis is one of the great jams where there are so many unique and/or exciting places that I don’t think I could list them all. Also this jam is likely the longest continuous piece of music in Dead history. Bob said it lasted 96 minutes but it doesn’t fit on one side of a reel! Shakedown Street is very fine and the transition into Franklin’s Tower is one of the highpoints of this show. Franklin's Tower is exceptionally exciting, one of the best. Estimated Prophet is also an exciting piece of music. He’s Gone is as usual but then the 1st jam section as usual raises hell: Very exciting but short before dropping into Truckin' which wasn’t noticeable. The 2nd jam section has some great playing in it, being mostly concerned with the Truckin' motif, this is one of the highlights of the show, you think it is time for The Other One but a percussion jam ensues which is quite long and uneventful. The 3rd jam is a pretty intense space-out and is another of the highlights of this show. The lead up to The Other One is also expectional and Lesh’s opening is powerful and distinct. The Other One starts off as exciting as I have heard it but things drop off decidedly and before you know it we're dropping into the space of Stella Blue which is pretty good.
