Dick's Review | This show starts off in a highly promising fashion with excellent versions of the 1st four songs. Nothing stupendous but even and very potent. The obvious highlight of this excellent 1st set is The Music Never Stopped which is quite thrilling, it being in the general class of “Best Of Ever Versions.” China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider is also one of the better versions and this is also the hottest playing of the night, up to this point. The jam section after He’s Gone is a mild send-up to The Other One but things subside before everything is ready and they drop into the Percussion Jam. Actually this exceptional jam section lasts longer and gradually evolves into a very entertaining section that is the best playing so far. This goes on quite long - 5 minutes - before letting go. The percussion jam wasn’t too noticeable. The jam section is uneventful. Truckin' is very good. There is a small section between Truckin' and Black Peter but it really doesn’t amount to much. Goin' Down The Road Feelin' Bad is pretty rousing and Johnny B. Goode end a very fine 2nd set and opening show. |
