Dick's Review | This is the show that came with big press from even Kidd himself! The show starts out very hot. The tempo is definitely much slower than usual. Nothing much at all after the opening medley until a pretty bouncy Promised Land. Pretty poor 1st set. Playin' In The Band is quite nice and gets very interesting during the 5 minutes or so before the fall into China Doll. The jam section following China Doll is pretty nice, it being variations on the Playin' In The Band theme and more aggressive than what went on at the start of this tune. The 2nd jam section following a mediocre drum solo is easily the highlight of the show. It is a very intense Brain-Fry or sorts that starts slow but builds to a fine blitz and then subsides to a nice relaxed spacey segment that gradually eases back into Playin' In The Band after about 10 minutes! There is a very short but quite tantalizing section between The Wheel and Around And Around. |
