| Dick's Review | Bertha > Promised Land is fairly decent but nothing to really indicate that this is the night! Minglewood Blues is more like I want to hear it. Rousing solo by Weir. The remainder of the set is entertaining but there aren’t any thrillers except for a close attempt to close the 1st set. Sugaree doesn’t get played too often these days and it is almost impossible to hear versions as exciting as those in earlier years (5/19/77 - Atlanta) Scarlet Begonias > Fire On The Mountain is clearly the most inspiring playing to this point. This attempt is one of the noticeably better versions in modern years i.e. after 1980. Estimated Prophet > Truckin' is also very captivating. We’re headed for an excellent second set! |
