Dick's Review | The performance isn't nearly as exciting as 8/19/80 - At least for the 1st set. Big Railroad Blues is the 1st sign of any enthusiasm. Let It Grow is the highlight of a mediocre 1st set. The 2nd set also is pretty unnoticeable up through Lost Sailor! Saint of Circumstance is beginning to make the show look more enticing . The percussion jam has some nice cowbell action from Kreutzmann. The jam section is OK. Not Fade Away is pretty good although incredibly short, and the we get the big shocker: Morning Dew. I can’t figure out why they felt like it was so significant occasion to drop this one on us! This time it is surprisingly intense and about the only thing to rave about after an uninspired night of music. |
