Dick's Review | The 1st set is nothing to get real excited over but it is pretty entertaining. It seems to be more spirited than usual for 1972. And as usual, Playin' In The Band is clearly the highlight of the 1st set and in this case it is indeed splendid. Nothing much after this until we get to the clear highlight of the show! Dark Star! Things are really pretty entertaining and we then get the words. After this, there is a very satisfying and lengthy bass solo which after 5 min or so thrillingly eases into a theme that is so tantalizing (with the rest of the band) that i can hardly stand it. After about 25 min., they fade into Weather Report Suite Theme and then quickly disappear into a Brain-Fry that is unfortunately mostly missing from my tape. The show ends on a high note! |
