Dick's Review | The quality is excellent and it seems to make each tune interesting to listen to. The tempo seems quite speedy but that is the way it was back then. They Love Each Other is fun to hear in this fast style. Carol wishes they would go back to doing it that way! Kidd says he really was impressed with the way they did Loose Lucy and it is exceptional. In fact, almost every tune has been deserving of a red star. My preconception was that this show was not so good with 6/10/73 being outstanding. He’s Gone is very inviting with a fairly long instrumental transition to Truckin' which is pretty good. The jam section is a fine set-up for Playin' In The Band which is pretty good but nothing spectacular. Big River is hot! And so is Eyes Of The World which is aggressive and to the point. The more I look at this show the more I feel it deserves a Lightning Skull Award. It certainly is as hot as 8/1/73 or any other show from 1973. In fact, considering the low percentage of killers during this year, I now christen it a certified killer. |
