Dick's Review | This is a really fine show, highlighted by 3 nice long jams. The performance itself is excellent and one of the better ones of 1974. There is an immediate feeling of excitement and energy, although none of the versions really stands out until Greatest Story Ever Told but from then on it becomes very entertaining. The ending of the 1st set is very unusual in that they get into a very lengthy and spacey version of plain in the band which would lead some to expect something extra special for a second set. The jam section within the U.S. Blues jam is especially nice with tasty electronic music that some of the rockers in Massachusetts couldn’t handle. I think I could say that 6/26/74 is more exciting and extroverted while 6/28/74 has a better and more inspiring jam. |
