| Dick's Review | They must have been exhausted from the Winterland dates since this show is fraught with problems. First of all, the quality is only good for the instrumental parts, the vocals sound awful and to further complicate matters, Garcia has laryngitis and is in terrible shape throughout the January tour. The first set is as poor a 1st set as I can remember and the jam from the 2nd set almost makes up for it but only the jam material had anything exceptional to it. This kind of thing they fire doing in 1978 within the jam sections is very tasty and certainly points in a direction we will see more of. They try to redeem it all with a very nice version of Truckin'. I really enjoy the way they come crashing to a close on this tune. |
