| Dick's Review | Compared to 5-8-79, this show is much more exciting, entertaining, or enthusiastic (or whatever you call it) with each song having something special about it. But this 1st set isn’t as good as Hampton Virginia - 5-4-79. The 2nd set opens with the hottest version of Shakedown Street that I can remember! Estimated Prophet > Eyes Of The World is great and just about as good as I’ve ever heard it. I even enjoyed the percussion jam a lot on this show. The highlight has to be the jam section before yet another great version of Not Fade Away. In fact, up to Not Fade Away it doesn’t matter how they perform for the remainder of the show for it to be considered exceptional enough to qualify for a Lightning Skull Award. According to Bob (Wagner), John Cippolina was playing from the jam section through Around And Around and he seem to always bring out great Not Fade Aways. Maybe it is by his presence because it isn’t by his performance which is hardly noticeable. Black Peter is one of the more intense and exciting versions. Only 5-9-78 - Syracuse is better that I can remember! |
