| Dick's Review | This show starts pretty slowly, it isn’t until Big Railroad Blues that things begin to sound like there’s something happening! It’s always great to hear Two Souls In Communion. Playin' In The Band is easily the most creative playing in the 1st set but it wasn’t that intense either! Good Lovin' is perhaps the most exciting playing in the 1st set but it too didn’t have much to offer. Dark Star on the other hand has a lot to offer. Starts off in a raucous up-tempo fashion and then drops into a very tasty introspective section. Then there is a nice mild segment with just Phil and Billy which builds to everyone joining for what sounds like the send-up to The Other One but is actually just the up-tempo attack of Dark Star. This again drops down into another introspective space that escalates to the highlight of the show! A great Brain-Fry. This lasts much longer than expected and quickly builds back up to full gusto space before moving into Morning Dew (very good) The pace of Goin' Down The Road Feelin' Bad is very deliberate and purposeful. Overall this is mostly a second set show. Not Fade Away is very entertaining and average |
