Dick's Review | Bob did a great taping job here, one of his best. Feel Like A Stranger is quite entertaining and noticeable. This Sugaree also sounds blistering! Minglewood Blues is another very noticeably exciting rendition. The 1st set closing medley is decent but not up to an excellent closer as one would expect after such good stuff leading up to it. Scarlet Begonias is very excellent, it being one of the best and most interesting versions from the last year. Seems that this tune has been less and less in enthusiasm since 1979. Fire On The Mountain is also quite exciting and finishes the most memorable version of this medley in quite awhile. Playin' In The Band is another very exceptional segment of this excellent show. In this attempt they play intense and tastefully for about 13 minutes before entering the percussion jam. In this case we get a very special treat when Airto and Flora Purim join for the percussion jam section! This is also very aggressive and attack oriented. Great. The 1st jam section is another fine treat that oozes with intensity for a couple of minutes before someone keys Not Fade Away which is another of the extra special segments of this show. Even though it is only about 6 ½ minutes long. Black Peter is quite nice and Sugar Magnolia is thrilling and superb. As it ends one of the better 2nd sets ever! I can’t imagine how you can get more out of Sugar Magnolia! |
