Dick's Review | The opening medley is quite exciting and things continue throughout the 1st set in an unusually intense 1st set. The quality sounds better for the 2nd set. I Feel Like A Stranger seems usual but Sugaree is noticeably exciting. Lost Sailor > Saint Of Circumstance is usual. The 1st jam section isn’t too noticeable. Then a nice surprise in Comes A Time but obviously things have to speed up after such a laid back opening 2nd set. And they waste no time diving into The Other One which is better than average but nothing really exceptional. The jam section following a good percussion jam is really the best playing of the show for me. In this case it is an intense but controlled spooky segment that embodies power. Black Peter is normal fill or its normal bridge between high points or up-tempo tunes. I can always be grateful that Around And Around and Johnny B. Goode are out of the way. The next two nights would seem especially promins. Only a U.S. Blues encore would make things better. |
